Eric says … Last week Rev Mike wore his new tartan waistcoat into a few schools. Some people thought that it was stylish and he looked “cool”; others thought it was drab and boring!!
Apparently it is a tartan design that only members of the clergy (Ministers, Vicars etc.) are allowed to wear and I gather that Rev. Mike thinks that makes him special, but you know I don’t think that it what you look like on the outside that matters; its what you’re like on the inside that counts.
Jesus had some pretty harsh things to say to the clergy of his time; He said that outwardly they looked good but they were secretly getting up to all sorts of nasty things that made them money or made them more important. In other words their hearts weren’t right.
Jesus always said that it was more important to do the right things, be helpful, kind, generous and so on, than it was to look good. If Jesus isn’t too worried about what I look like then neither should I be worried and nor should you. Just keep on trying to be good.
